Larus Academia vision

School Ecosystem

The school as part of its community, from need to a thriving school

Five modules covering a school's whole life cycle. Use them together or on their own, always shaped to your context, curriculum and culture.

The model

Five modules

From need and design to founding, pedagogy and community.

Deployment Models

Three starting points

A new school, an existing school or a national programme.

Localisation

Adapted locally

Curriculum, legislation, language and culture guide the content.

Overview

The School Ecosystem in one concept

Modularity

Each module works on its own and is always adapted locally

Starting point

The Larus Academia model is based on research and the success factors of Finnish pedagogy

A client can adopt one module, several, or the entire ecosystem. In every assignment the content is tailored to the school's situation and to the country's curriculum, legislation, language and culture.

01

Independent modules

Each module has its own objective, output and outcome. No module commits the client to the next, and modules are chosen according to the client's needs.

02

Tailored to the client

Scope, priorities and schedule are matched to the school's size, starting point and goals. A diagnosis or feasibility study shows what is truly needed.

03

Localisation

Curriculum, legislation, language and culture guide the content. Courses, tools and materials are localised, and local trainers are trained.

General challenge

A school is built by many contributors, but seldom has a fully unified structure

Needs, facilities, procurement, pedagogy and community involvement are often decided at different tables and at different times. The lack of unity and systematic planning is present in the school's daily life for years.

01

Building before pedagogy

Pedagogy is fitted to a finished building, not the other way round.

02

Procurement detached from teaching

The total cost and the impact on teaching go unseen.

03

Focus unclear

The leadership model is built only once daily school life has already begun.

04

A school apart from its community

Its facilities, expertise and networks do not serve the surrounding area.

School Ecosystem

Brings the school's whole life cycle into one continuum, in which every stage adds value and forms an independent part of the whole. Pedagogy guides decisions from the very start.

Deployment Models

A new school starts from need, an existing school from a diagnosis

Modules are combined into a path that matches the school's real needs.

New school

Founder, investor, municipality or school group

  • M1Needs Assessment
  • M2Design and Construction
  • M3Founding and Procurement
  • M4Pedagogical Model and Leadership
  • M5School as Part of the Community

The whole path from need to the opening year. The leadership model and training begin before the school opens.

Existing school

Private school, school group or public school

  • M1Needs Assessment
  • M2Design and Construction
  • M3Founding and Procurement
  • M4Pedagogical Model and Leadership
  • M5School as Part of the Community

Starts with a diagnosis. Learning environments and procurement come in when the school renovates, expands or renews its ICT.

National programme

Ministry of education, region or school chain

  • M1Needs Assessment
  • M2Design and Construction
  • M3Founding and Procurement
  • M4Pedagogical Model and Leadership
  • M5School as Part of the Community

The model is scaled up from pilot schools. Larus trains local trainers and school leaders.

M3

An organisation ready to go

Leadership, staff, curriculum and procurement in place before opening.

Next steps

How building the ecosystem begins

1

First meeting

A conversation about the situation, goals and schedule.

2

Starting point

A new school starts with a feasibility study, an existing school with a diagnosis.

3

Roadmap

Modules, schedule and responsibilities are adapted to the local curriculum and culture.

4

Launch
